Gargoyle

Real name: Isaac Christians

First appearance: Defenders 94

Powers: The Gargoyle can manipulate various types of mystical energies, and shoots mystical bolts from his hands. He also possesses the power of flight and super-human strength.

History: While the Gargoyle itself has been around for centuries, its human host is an elderly man who agreed to host the demon in exchange for economic security for his town. During an exchange of bodies, Christians slew his human body to trap the demon and free his own spirit, allowing him to remain a super-hero with the Defenders. When the Defenders dissolved, the Gargoyle was presumed killed. He was actually being experimented on by the Stranger. After being rescued by Quasar, Isaac was a house guest of Daimon Hellstrom, who had been a teammate of his in the Defenders.

Current status: With his best bud now in charge of the demonic afterworld, the Gargoyle's current fate remains uncertain.
The Green Goblin

Real name: Phil Urich

First appearance: Web of Spider-Man 128

Powers: Although he was enveloped in the green goblin goop and presumably has super-strength, he always ascribed his abilities to the suit, not to himself. (He's in denial...)

History: Accompanying his uncle Ben Urich on a story, Phil stumbled across a secret warehouse housing the chemicals and paraphernalia of the Green Goblin. After being immersed in the chemicals, he donned the costume to battle a group of thugs hassling his uncle. At first Phil just got a kick out of the goblin gear and the eerie laugh that the mask generated; as he began to battle more powerful foes, he began to realize that with his powers came with great responsibility. (Hmmmm....where have I heard that before...?)

Current status: When his suit was trashed during Onslaught, Phil walked away from the super-hero life. Currently he is going to school at Empire State University.
