TOS #61 "The Death of Tony Stark!"

Pepper and Happy burst into Tony Stark's office where Iron Man is sitting at the desk. They give their resignations. Tony Stark has been missing for a month, and they want to quit to find out what happened to him, suspecting Iron Man, they cannot stay. Inspector Flint stops them outside and asks to talk to them at police headquarters. A reporter overhears and publishes that Iron Man is the prime suspect in the disappearance of Tony Stark. Meanwhile, Iron Man continues to work to discover a way to take off the armor but still have his heart continue to beat. Happy looks for clues around the house of Tony Stark and finds him in bed. Happy calls Pepper and is told that he was sick and needed rest and to have Iron Man tell everyone Tony was on a trip. Soon word spreads that Anthony Stark is back and in bed. At this time the Mandarin sent a signal to his satellite in orbit, and it fires a laser beam into Anthony Stark's house and bedroom destroying it. Luckily Iron Man escapes in his armor. He finds that it came from the orient, specifically, the Mandarin! Tony heads over in disguise on a commercial flight. He opens the emergency door and jumps out as a bearded man but emerges as Iron Man. Iron Man is caught in a beam that pulls him to the mountain's rocks below. He uses repulsors to break his fall, then there are flashing lights to weaken him. And, last, Koto - a giant to attack Iron Man. Iron Man awakes ties to a giant disc helpless before the Mandarin.
