TOS #86 "Death Duel for the Life of Happy Hogan!"
Script: Stan Lee
Art: Gene Colan and Frank Giacoia and Sam Rosen and Irv Forbush
The real Iron Man confronts the Mandarin as Happy Hogan in an Iron Man armor without a helmet is carried away by a guard. Mandarin hits the newly improved Iron Man with his impact ring knocking Iron Man through a wall. Iron Man gets up. Mandarin karate chops the armor twice (apparently with no effects from Mandy's perspective - Tony nearly blacks out), then Iron Man hurls him away. Ice blast ring hits Iron Man and freezes the armor. Iron Man reaches his heat induction knob and melts the icy shell. Mandarin flees and hits a button as he goes, a steel door comes down hard and separates the Mandarin from Iron Man. The steel walls begin to close in on Iron Man as he braces himself. Iron Man breaks free as the cement ceiling and floors give way. Iron Man reaches Mandarin and punches him in the face. Then, Iron Man removes his gauntlets and shuts down Mandarin's machines. They go at it toe to toe. Mandarin gets two karate chops in on the armor, and Iron Man gets a one-two punch to the Mandarin's face. And, he goes down. Iron Man searches the castle to find Happy. The Mandarin is firing a missile so that the East and the West forces will blame one another and try to start war so he can pick up the pieces. Iron Man attacks the guard and knocks him out. Happy is glad to see Tony Stark as Iron Man. Iron Man preprograms Happy's boot jets in the old iron Man armor to go to Okinawa while Iron Man goes after the missile. Iron Man sends a radio frequency command to reverse the missile and have it directed at the castle. Mandarin attacks and tries to cut down IM with a disintegration beam ring. Iron Man avoids it for a few more seconds until the missile hits the castle as Iron Man escapes.
