TOS #87 "Crisis -- At the Earth's Core!"

Tony Stark is in his lab. Tony asks Pepper and Happy to evacuate with the rest as he operates machinery to bore through the earth using atomic energy. Happy knows that Tony might need to change into Iron Man and removes Pepper. The experiment is to probe the deepest core of the earth. Tony suits up to stand the tremendous pressures and radiation. Protestors gather outside of Stark Industries. Iron Man has spent millions lining the inside so no innocent will be harmed, but if something goes wrong, Iron Man himself will be sacrificed to science. Suddenly around the city, 2 buildings plunge below without a trace. Criminals try to take advantage of the situation and sneak onto Stark's factory. Iron Man's built in Sonar picks up the 3 dastardly criminals. Iron Man stops them with ease. Then, the ground trembles below. Stark's factory begins to sink. When falling below, it gently rests on the bottom with the Mole Man and a missile. It is fired and the earth buries Iron Man!
