Iron Man has reached the inner chamber of the Laird, the heavy set man in a Scottish kilt. He disappears and Iron Man seeks him out. The Rook attacks with a big cube of stone dropped on Iron Man. Iron Man lifts it off and resumes the search for a spider ridden James Rhodes. Iron Man is trapped on a door with shackles. He uses his boot jets to escape. Then, he is trapped again in a room with nozzles that eject a purple mist of acid gas. It begins to melt the armor. Tony tries to break out but can't. He finally uses his diamond fingertip saw. He escapes but most of the armor has been marred. He finds outside that there is an underground cave. He rescues Rhodey for treatment and recharges. His marred armor still functions, and Iron Man captures Laird and hauls him off to jail. Indries meets Tony, and they go out.
