Featuring the following heroine!

Jarella
by Christopher Lawrence

Real name: Jarella
AKA: Because of her role as a hereditary ruler, Jarella had various titles including Warrior Queen, Empress and various other regal titles.

First appearance: Incredible Hulk 140

Final appearance: Jarella died in Incredible Hulk 205. However, her physical form was seen for the last time when she was buried in Incredible Hulk 248.

Favorite quote: "No my love -- I am coming with you! Whatever the danger, I will face it at your side! I owe my people that much at least". Jarella made this remark in Incredible Hulk #202 when the Hulk told her to stay behind while he investigated what has been plaguing her people.

Powers: Jarella was a highly skilled warrior who was very proficient in the use of swords and horseback riding. She was also an excellent strategist. Hmm.... I'm curious how Jarella, the warrior queen, would have fared against Xena, the warrior princess.
Favorite story line: Incredible 148 depicted all of Jarella's great qualities. In the issue, she single-handedly slew the rebellious group of soldiers that ambushed and killed all of the men she was traveling with. Later, Jarella demonstrated tremendous courage when she traveled to Earth, which she knew practically nothing about, to seek the Hulk's help, and tremendous conviction to place the needs of her people over her personal desires when she decided to leave the Hulk and return to her world and her people.

Least favorite story line: It would have to be Incredible Hulk 205 since it contained her shocking demise. But, to borrow a Klingon phrase, she died an honorable death.
So when is Jarella going to pull a 'Jean Grey'? To date, Jarella remains among the relatively few Marvel characters who have not been recycled from Death's jaws by a writer just for a new story line. Moreover, there has not even been a 'Jarella Clone' or a 'Jarella Reborn' story line, which is surprising given a couple of recent story lines I won't mention by name.
