Featuring the following heroine!

Silver Sable

First appearance: Amazing Spider-Man 265.

Favorite quote: "I had assumed your brain was in your skull. My mistake." (Silver Sable 1. What happened to the merc she said that to -- well, it wasn't pretty...)

Team affiliation: Leader of the Wild Pack and founder of Silver Sable International. The Wild Pack was formed by Sable's father with the aid of the Symkarian government to hunt down Nazi war criminals. Under Sable, it became a profit-driven corporation of bounty hunters, specializing in tracking the likes of the Black Fox (Amazing Spider-Man 265), Venom (Amazing Spider-Man 375), and, for the right price, Spider-Man (Spectacular Spider-Man 128) and the Human Torch (Fantastic Four 373). Sable will employ outside help such as Paladin when she needs to, but be warned! She distrusts people who won't take money for their super-heroing, calling them "amateurs." Although she has frequently teamed with Spider-Man, she considers him to be the most amateur of the lot!

Everything you need to know about Sable's philosophy in life: "I do not condone many of the methods I am forced to employ. However, my moral code is a small price to pay for freedom." (Silver Sable 8, after one of her Wild Pack members questioned the removal of body parts as a proper form of interrogation.)

Powers: While not possessing any super-powers, Sable's reaction time is so fast she has startled Spider-Man (ASM 301). She is extremely agile, adept with all forms of firearms, and excels in throwing compact, razor-sharp darts called chais. Her skill in hand-to-hand combat is unparalleled. Such heavy hitters as the Punisher and Luke Cage have difficulty holding their ground against her resourcefulness.

Favorite storyline: The back-up story in Marvel Comics Presents 53, where Sable and the Black Widow bump heads after finding they've accepted different contracts to bring in the same bad guy. My favorite full-length story is Amazing Spider-Man 279, where an unprepared Sable fights a fully prepared Jack O'Lantern to a draw -- and still manages to get the murderous crook she was after.

Least favorite storyline: The revelation that Silver was the Foreigner's ex-wife, coupled with this tiresome whose-turn-is-it-to-kill-whom game of tag they play. Unbelievable as well as tedious, since the Foreigner is a two-bit hood Aunt May could take down. He isn't close to being in Silver's league.

Just-one-of-those-things-that-bugs-me department: What the heck type of conditioner does Sable use to give her hair that bounce and shine during combat, anyway? She could make a -- ahem -- killing marketing that stuff on QVC!
