Iron Man V5 - 1 We open with Tony at a party. A blonde acts dumb to spend time with Tony. She talks to Pepper. When Tony and the blonde go to Tony's place, he gets an alarm message from Maya Hansen. She is dead and Extremis is taken by A.I.M. for sale on the open market. Tony shows up to stop the bidding at an A.I.M. sales auction. He has a new black armor that is like a putty modeling clay that goes on when he calls for it. Smart metals align to a subdermal exoskeleton, next gen 3D printer. Tony's had time to prep so he now has a solution for Extremis enhanced individuals. He doesn't have to kill them. He can use armor piercing projectiles that pulse at the right frequency to shut them down. There are 4 Extremis kits sold and out in the world. - 2 Tony is working on a new A.I. from scratch when he gets a message from the Circle inviting him to New Avalon, Symkaria (Symkaria neighbors Latveria - and has the Extremis kits) for a wager of technologies. Iron Man shows up and is met by Arthur, Lancelot, Gawain, Galahad, Percival, and behind the scenes, the engineer, Merlin, who she was beat by Iron Man in a contest years ago and holds a grudge (in a Camelot inspired offer of combat, Stark tech for the Extremis Grail). Iron Man first takes out Gawain, a mixed martial artist in a suit of armor. Next, he takes out a Galahad. He fights Lancelot and seems to be on the ropes when he feigns hurt and gets up and uses a focused X-Ray laser to destroy the Extremis Grail. Merlin's force fields were light permeable and therefore vulnerable. She lost again. Arthur claims a breach of contract. But, Tony tells him to take him to court where he can have Arthur charged with Maya's murder as Iron Man flies away. Lancelot who takes off her helmet and it is Alex Draguno, one of Russia's former best exo-pilots, she won. - 3 The next signal of Extremis enhancement is coming from Columbia, a drug Lord. Tony designs a new Stealth armor with minimal repulsors and shields and high on hacking and stealth components. Iron Man goes there in his new Stealth armor - using Lightbending technology he is invisible and using holograms he takes on the form of a body guard and goes in. He heads to the basement invisible again. He finds a girl locked in a hospital room with lots of IVs and equipment. He reveals himself to the girl who calls out. Living Laser attacks Iron Man. A new Vibro and a new female Firebrand are there as well. Tony finds out that the drug lord is the father of the girl. He spent all his money getting a cure for his daughter and Extremis is killing her. When the rogues gallery find out there is no money, they leave. Tony saves the girl and sends her father to prison. - 4 Tony sees one of the Extremis kits in Paris catacombs, so he goes in with the Heavy Duty black and gold armor, his new AI is in its teenage years so has attitude. A surgeon had injected the Extremis into 13 women who are demonlike/ vampirelike who attack everything in the catacombs but are programmed to be superstitious to the circle. They won't cross it. Iron Man tries to destroy the Extermis kit but the surgeon blasts and shields hold bu the walls crumble. They proceed forward and kill the surgeon. Then Tony seals the hole with the words that stop them, and proceeds to use the suit to kill the monsters that Extremis created. Misisng one, he finds her and she has not moved in days. He has her taken to the Raft, Superhuman prison, psychiatric wing, where she appears pregnant held by the words programmed to stop her. - 5 Tony remembers 10 years before he secured a government contract very young talking to Eli, his dad's longtime partner. At Stark Resilient, Pepper the CEO shows Tony a phone they created, he kind of mocks it, but the company needs a steady revenue stream. The last Extremis kit is in orbit, Tony heads out with the black modular type armor. Eli is there to great him at a space station. Eli has stolen the Extremis kit from those who killed Maya. He has formed an alliance of sorts and enhanced them to be thieves of technology in space. They are making enhancements for any world to survive without suits of armor or robot tanks. Iron Man wants to help but what is keeping the bad guys from stealing the Extremis? They attack Iron Man. Iron Man shielded himself and tasered them back. He leaves them and takes the Extremis kit. They have to stay in space now. He heads home and meets with Pepper Potts and then he is off to space with a new suit of space armor and a new A.I. P.E.P.P.E.R. - 6 Iron Man is in his latest deep space armor in the Voldi Tear, Deep Space. Iron Man defends an artificial world against a predatory mechanoid pirate fleet. Iron Man is taken by the Voldi and shown around until she sees his beard and then kicks him out. Tony is arrested for deicide, seems as if they are blaming him for the death of the Phoenix. Death's Head shows up too - 30 foot bounty hunter. - 7 Tony's in prison and the Regellian Recorder 451 visits him. Regellian Recorders are probes sent to gather data about a civillization and then get mind-wiped and go out again. But, 451 did not get mind wiped and learned to not just record but to act. He tells Tony that the Voldi cannot fight and to claim the right of ritual combat. Tony should win many battles and prolong his life, provide a distraction (the Regellian has a Voldi killed when caught trying to get Tony's armor - shows he has a major flaw in his programming), and maybe win over the heart of the people. Every win, charges are dropped until Death's Head is conscripted to fight Stark by the Voldi. - 8 Stark fights Death's Head and is getting beat. The Regellian gets the Heart and escapes but does send the IM armor to rescue Tony. The armor comes and attacks Death's Head, and Tony gets into the armor and escapes. Tony contacts his armory and heads to it. Meanwhile, the Celestials attack the Voldi because the Voldi heart that clouds their gaze was taken by the Regellian Recorder. The Voldi Tear is being destroyed and suddenly the drones attacking Iron Man go limp. Iron Man attempts to fly back to help when the Recorder explains that the Voldi as a parasite has been noticed by the host, the Celestials, and they will destroy their leech. The Recorder has manipulated all of this to get the Heart and is okay with sacrificing anything to accomplish its goal of saving the universe. - 9 Iron Man first go to the Guardians of the Galaxy, then when they don't help, he turns to hiring Death's Head to find 451. They find 451's trail and head to it to an abandoned ship. The ship has 451, and it seems Death's Head was paid to betray Iron Man and controls P.E.P.P.E.R., Tony's suit's A.I. - 10 The Recorder show Tony a video of his father explaining that Howard and Maria could not have kids they always had a problem with the baby. It would not come to term. Howard used all of his connections and no one could help. He found aliens that had captured the Recorder. Howard would free the Recorder for his medical technology. - 11 The child of Howard and Maria was worked on by the Recorder. The grey aliens returned and had to be stopped to prevent them from getting the technology. - 12 This issue tells how 451 and Howard Stark and his team dealt with the mob grey aliens. And, the baby is born. 451 leaves never to be seen again. Tony and the heart of the Voldi are the keys to activate an armor to be an Earth deterant against those who once fought the Celestials, an armor 25,000 feet tall - the godkiller. - 13 They get to the godkiller armor and the heart of the Voldi can start it but not control it, they need Stark as the pilot. This refers back to Avengers Forever where mankind is projected to be the dominate Empire in the Universe. The Recorder thinks that all higher powered empires recognize this and are ready to squash it at its first sign. Then Death's Head shows up to take up a bounty on the rogue Regellian Recorder. The Recorder 451 gets control of Death's Head. - 14 Tony shuts off his A.I. so the Recorder cannot control it any longer, removes his helmet and escapes. Then 451 sends Death's Head after Iron Man. The godkiller armor is flying through space without a pilot. Death's Head reaches Tony and tells him how he had the armory hone in on his current suit, and it brought him here. Iron Man manually rigs his repulsors and fires. Death's Head wraps himself around 451 to protect him all the way down the shaft of the godkiller armor. 451 gets free and Death's Head plunges to the bottom. 451 has the godkiller turn to go to an inhabited world. Tony gets in the driver's seat to stop the destruction but it isn't working. Another planet is destroyed. Next is Earth. - 15 Tony has reached the mouth where his armory is and gets into the black and gold modular armor. Tony reloads a pre-Voldi P.E.P.P.E.R. AI and seals other armors with direct cabling. He tells 451 that he cannot control the godkiller armor. 451 sends projections to compromise the suits until Tony uses the laser to knock out his hacking unit. Then sends in the Heavyduty armor to pull 451 apart until he is subdued. He shows 451 that he cannot control the godkiller armor. 451 calls for it to abort and seal all access and then begins to delete himself. - 16 The godkiller armor is about to leave this reality while Tony tries to hack 451 as he deletes all his files. He hacks into Death's Head's ship and finds that he had gotten 451 tech as part of his payment and finally gets through and is able to barely escape. He gets back to the Guardians of the Galaxy and spends next 3 months with them. Then, Tony heads back to Earth. The real Pepper Potts calls Tony to L.A. and suddenly, a suprise birthday party. He also finds out that Pepper is engaged to a guy named Marc. Then he heads out to find out about his family. - 17 Tony works out that his dad put in a genetic block on the 451 code that was to hurt their biologic child at age 30. But, he would become sickly and need constant medical care to even breathe. Tony goes the Maria Stark Foundation Hospice and finds Arno Stark the true biologic son of Howard and Maria Stark connected to machines but able to type. Arno tells Tony that he is adopted. They conspire to help change the world. - 18 This issue opens 30 years in the future with Tony and Arno running space elevators and the future.
