Carol Danvers: Captain Marvel, formerly known as Warbird and Binary and Ms. Marvel. Carol has been through hell.
First, her outstanding military, CIA, and NASA career was changed when her body was merged with Kree DNA making her a unique human-kree hybrid. This granted her super strength and powers of flight as well as a 7th sense for danger. Carol lost her job at NASA, but went on to become a novelist and writer.
She worked with the Avengers for a time and became a host of Marcus, son of Immortus. Who when grown, took her to Limbo apparently willingly, but come to find out she was being controlled. She escaped Limbo and blamed the Avengers.
Then Rogue, now of the X-Men, stole her mind and all her powers, nearly destroying Carol. Jessica Drew-at the time Spider-Woman, rescued Carol and took her to Charles Xavier the founder of the X-Men. He was able to bring back the memories of Carol's past but not the emotions.
As Carol was on a mission with the X-men, she was captured by the alien Brood and tortured. Their genetic experiments changed her into Binary, unleashing her full potential as a human-kree hybrid. She escaped and found she could now absorb energy from a White hole, later she learned to absorb other energies.
She left the X-Men to go to space as a member of the Star Jammers when Rogue joined the X-Men. She later came back to earth and joined the Avengers.
Our relationship really started there. I suspected her of having a drinking problem and asked that she be brought up on charges when she endangered lives. She hated me and blamed the Avengers again. She has since, joined A.A. (Alcoholics Anonymous) with me and became a close and trusted friend and ally. She has started a new life for herself as a writer and a reinstated Avenger. She is an amazing woman and a true Warrior.
